The Fisheries Department of Saint Lucia is conducting Lionfish / Marine Invasive Species sensitization meetings with fisher folks during May & June 2012.
The curriculum covers:
- Safe lionfish capture and handling
- Brief on lionfish 101 – origin, spread, impacts
- Reporting of lionfish
- First aid procedure
- Update on reported lionfish sightings
Over 130 fisherfolks have been trained island-wide and this number is rising.
