Saint Lucia: NISS Strategy National Consultations

NISS National ConsultationsChase, V., Felix, M.-L., Krauss, U. (2010). National Invasive Species Strategy, National Consultations: Summary of Conclusions and Recommendations, Project No. GFL / 2328 – 2713-4A86, GF-1030-09-03, pp. 34.

The team developing Saint Lucia’s NISS facilitated broad-based national consultations in Castries, Vieux Fort and Soufriere in January 2011. The purpose of the consultations was to solicit information and guidance from members of the public, the private sector and persons in the community who are knowledgeable about pathways and/or who would suffer from the impacts of invasive alien species.

The workshops sought to confirm:

  •  The challenges and constraints to invasive species management from the perspective of the general public;
  •  Strategic responses to address the challenges and constraints to the problem of invasive species in Saint Lucia; and
  • Roles and responsibilities of each of the agencies which are presently involved in or potentially can impact on or be impacted by invasive species.
