Mr. Dunley Auguste, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Land, Forestry and Fisheries of Saint Lucia in launching the CIASNET.ORG website noted the importance of a one stop shop for information on Invasive Species in the Wider Caribbean. He expressed his confidence that this site would rise to the challenge of providing information for the Caribbean Region to reduce the incidence of future invasion by alien species that affect our terrestrial, marine and fresh water ecosystems. He commended the project: “Mitigating the Threats of Invasive Alien Species in the insular Caribbean”, and regional organisations such as CARICOM; CARDI, USDA/APHIS; IICA and FAO who are also participating in this initiative.
